In November 2016, the Atlantic Council launched its final report of the Middle East Strategy Task Force (MEST), written by Co-Chairs former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley. In the report, Albright and Hadley demonstrate that the Middle East is not condemned to a debilitating cycle of conflict. They propose a New Strategic Approach to the region that envisions a two-pronged action agenda to wind down civil wars and unlock the region’s human capital.
We invite you to read the report and respond in English and/or Arabic through a written response, audio recording, or short video to the following question:
The Middle East Strategy Task Force final report emphasizes that positive change in the Middle East cannot be imposed by outsiders. Instead, the vision for a more positive future must come from the people of the region themselves. What is your positive vision for the future of your community or country?
Top submissions and honorable mentions will be posted on our MEST website for wide distribution throughout the United States and the Middle East. The top submission in each category will be awarded a monetary prize of:
- Short video: $300
- Audio recording: $200
- Written response: $100
